In a nailbiting finish at the South Australian State Championships during January, 19-year-old Tassie Max managed to beat out multi-Olympic medallist Kyle Chalmers in the 100m freestyle.
Max left Tassie in November 2022 to move to the Miami Swimming Club on the Gold Coast “Just to give it a crack, so there are no what-ifs,” he said. In 2015 a young Tassie lass – Ariarne Titmus – made a similar move achieved great things.
